Eligibility to apply for Portuguese Passport
People who are born in Antigo Estado da India (Portuguese India) before 18th December, 1961. Those registered in the Antigo Estado da India (Portuguese India) before 1961 even if they are born abroad, provided the father was born in Goa; The children of a Portuguese citizen, born after 1961 anywhere in the world; These are the most frequent cases; let us know your case so we can evaluate it.
Requirements to apply for Portuguese Passport
Documents required for those born/registered in Antigo Estado da India (Portuguese India) before 18th December 1961:
Birth Certificate of the Applicant (Teor from Civil Reg. Office).
Legal document of Identification, i.e. current passport. Alternatives can include: ration card, voter identity card, or a driving license.
Residence Certificate specifying the period of stay from 1st January 1974 to 31st December 1975.
Original Old Portuguese document, issued by the Portuguese civil Registry in Goa or elsewhere
(if from Goa,the document must be dated before 19 December 1961).
Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate of the applicant's parents. These could be used in case there is no possibility of recovering an old document issued by the erstwhile Portuguese Administration.
Marriage Certificate (only if applicable).
Power of Attorney of the applicant (if deceased the child/wife will be applying).
Death Certificate (If the applicant is deceased).
Documents required for those Portuguese Passport for those born/registered in the Antigo Estado da India (Portuguese India) after 18th December 1961:
Birth Certificate of the Applicant.

Assento de Nascimento and Assento de Casamento (Birth Registration and Marriage Registration) of the applicant's parents.
Power of Attorney of the applicant.
Registration of marriage at the Conservatoria do Registo Civil, Lisbon, Portugal (after registering the applicant's birth):
Assento de Nascimento (Birth Registration) of the applicant.
Birth Certificate of the spouse.
Death Certificate of spouse (If spouse is deceased).
Document of Identification of the spouse.
Indian passport of the applicant. (Will not be required if the applicant is deceased).
Power of Attorney of the applicant
All documents issued in Goa must be certified by a) Public Notary, b) Collector, c) Under Secretary (Home Department)
All documents issued in Bombay must be certified by a) Public Notary, b) Mantralaya c) Under Secretary (Home Department)
